Ellie became more consistent in serving this year and she even tried serving overhand near the end of the season. Ellie is not afraid to go after the ball and several times ended up sliding on her knees trying to reach the ball. She was a wonderful encourager to her teammates, always giving a high-five for good effort on the court whether the play was good or not. Ellie often led the team in prayer and was an example of the fruit of the Spirit to her team.
She was sick the couple of days before her last game. We weren't sure she would be up to playing. But in spite of being a bit off balanced and tired, she toughed it out and played all three games. The team the girls played was the only team they hadn't won against at all this season. They lost the first, but won the next two games. It really showed how much they had improved over the season.
It was a great ending to a very good season. We are glad for the break we will have during the winter, but are planning to have her do basketball in the spring. We hope she will be playing with some of the same girls again.
