I'm still very happy with Kay Arthur's inductive studies for kids. Both kids are familiar with the format and do very well working through them at their own pace. Ellie is much faster than Josh of course, but he can do it. We didn't quite finish our study of Genesis, so are beginning the year by finishing up our book on Joseph. It worked out because our first Daniel study was on back order and is on its way. Ellie requested to study Revelation this year, so Principal Dad suggested we also study Daniel which he said we should do first. Should be a very informative time in the Word this year!
We enjoyed using the Learning Language Arts Through Literature curriculum last year. It was so much more interesting than just drill after drill. The added use of good literature makes all the difference.
Continuing with Saxon math for both. I considered a change for Ellie, but after doing further research and reading many reviews, I felt good about keeping this as our math curriculum.
We really enjoyed Volume 1 of The Mystery of History. Seeing our timeline at the end was very satisfying. I am confident after looking over the table of contents that this year will not disappoint.
Apologia's Exploring Creation series is by far the kids' favorite thing. They are both looking forward to studying land animals this year. I'm learning as much as they are!
We'll also continue with Sequential Spelling. I admit to getting a bit lazy last year by not taking the time to do the program as I was supposed to. Ellie's spelling is improving. I hope that if I do my part, she will continue to grow in this area.
