Mystery of History Volume I; More Egypt
We have continued our study of Egypt this week. Following our discussion of Joseph, we learned about Amenhotep IV and Nefertiti. The kids made cartouche bookmarks using hieroglyphics to write their names. Then we read about Tutankhamen. They had fun watching Steve Martin do his King Tut song on YouTube. We did some research on Howard Carter the archaeologist who found King Tut. Instead of making a life-sized one, I drew a sarcophagus shape on paper and the kids decorated them. We finished the week by reading about Ramses II and the four main kingdoms of Egypt. They created a "Kingdom Folder" which was a flat pyramid with the names of the kingdoms and rulers on it.
