First we searched for the kids' projects to see what ribbons they'd won. They were pleased with the results.
Ellie's sewing project
Ellie's Little Miss poster
Josh's coloring page
Ellie's Gandalf
Josh's crown
Ellie's comic "Chicken in a Minute on Venus"
Josh's comic
Ellie's photos - This one is my favorite!
I "mustache" where you are from?
Prairie girls
We spent a great deal of time in the Pencils 2 Pixels The Art of Animation exhibit. A great history of how animation has evolved over time.
We had a quick snack outside and then headed into the Underneath the Sea exhibit
Checking out the sting rays and horseshoe crabs
Even though we didn't walk around that much this time around; we still stopped for a foot massage.
The following Friday night, Ellie entered the Favorite Cookie Contest. We received a parking pass and two tickets to get into the fair. Friday was canned food night; so with 10 canned goods, both Dennis and Josh also got in free. We had time before the contest, so we took Dennis over to the Pencil 2 Pixel exhibit.
Josh had done book reports to earn his free ride tickets. Ellie decided that the rides were too young for her and she opted not to do any book reports. Josh didn't want to do the rides alone, so he shared his six tickets with his sister.
We spent some more time in the America's Kids' building
After we dropped off Ellie's cookies, Dennis and Ellie visited the barn. Josh didn't want to go because he said it was too smelly!
Ellie's Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Truffle cookies ended up earning 2nd place. Next year we'll have both kids enter the contest and hope for 4 free tickets. And we know that once we drop the cookies off at 6:30, we don't have to be back until 8 for the results! Overall, it was another fun year at the fair!
