The First Tee is "designed around helping young people understand and ultimately develop Nine Core Values: honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy and judgment." (Parent Guide p. 2)
The first day Josh was taught the code of conduct which is respect for self, for others and for your surroundings. He remembered that you were never to sit or run on the green. You never talk while your partner is hitting the ball or let your shadow fall over their ball. And you always try to do your best.
We weren't paying attention to his attire on the first day, so after that, we made sure he wore nice shorts and a collared shirt.
For being a first-time player, Josh has done okay. His clubs are actually a bit too long for him, but he also can get a little goofy and doesn't want to practice his swing at home. But then again, he's only 8; and we're not trying to create the next Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus or Phil Mickelson. We just want him to find something he likes to be active.
At this time he has two lessons left. Overall, I'd say Josh has enjoyed it. We would definitely recommend the program and would sign Josh up again in the future.
