Griffith Observatory 2013

On Friday of our Easter break we had planned to go to the Griffith Observatory. After taking our time getting up and then getting ready, we finally made it out the door; only to find out we needed gas. The line at Costco was super long and out of frustration we talked about giving up on the Observatory and doing something else. Thankfully, Denis said we should "go for it" and we did. It ended up being an incredible afternoon.

We had to park a bit down the hill and then hike up to the Observatory. Dennis and I enjoyed it as we felt like we were hiking in the woods. The kids didn't enjoy it quite so much!

The Griffith Observatory is not at all like I remember it. There were some really great exhibits and they tied in exactly with what we studied this year in astronomy. I had moments of mommy/teacher pride as I heard the kids explain things to us and especially as they shared the "creation confirmation" facts we learned in rebuttal to the Big Bang theory. "The heavens declare the glory of God" -Psalm 19:1

We would like to go back another time later in the day so we can stay and look through the telescopes. I also think we need to explore more of Griffith Park itself. But this was a great day of exploring something new and interesting.
