I am a Child of God

Our girl is part of a book club. This month they discussed poetry. They talked about what poetry is and how to deliver a poem. Each girl shared a poem they liked. Then they wrote an "I Am" poem following a model.

This morning at Friday school chapel, we sang "No Longer Slaves." When Ellie saw the "I am" she thought of the song lyric "I am a child of God." That inspired the beginning of the poem and she went from there. 

I am a Child of God

I am a child of God

I wonder about Heaven

I hear the sound of angels' wings

I see miracles

I want to know Him better

I am a child of God

I pretend I am perfect

I feel I do no wrong

I touch evil

I worry about sin

I cry when I mess up

I am a child of God

I understand He loves me

I say God is my Father

I dream of the day we will be reunited

I try to be perfect

I hope to be a better daughter but,

I am a child of God
