California Science Center - January 2017

The latest exhibit at the California Science Center is on "The Science Behind Pixar." Our homeschool group had planned a trip for January, but we wanted to go as a family, so had decided we would go sometime over Christmas break.

We were so excited when we received a gift certificate in the mail as a Christmas gift!

After we had ordered our tickets, we saw that it was supposed to rain on the day we had planned to go. We were so grateful it didn't end up raining on that day; driving into LA in the rain would not have been fun. There were a number of people there that day, but it was not overly crowded. We were still able to see and do everything.

There was so much information! There were videos of people who worked at Pixar, workstations for the kids to try out each aspect of animating, and lots to read and see. We spent a good 2 1/2 hours covering every part of the exhibit.

We learned that much of animation involves math!

Ellie had decided to dress as "Ellie" from "Up" for our trip. I love this girl!

Ellie discovered that the story and art aspect of animating does NOT involve math. This is what she would like her future career to be!

We really enjoyed the exhibit and were so thankful for the gift certificate! I love when a family outing also counts as a school field trip!
